James Clemens Cheerleading started this season off with a bang by collecting the school’s first state championship. The team is in the midst for preparing for their first appearance at the national competition.
Some of the cheerleaders had one of the hardest jobs: switching schools from Bob Jones and competing against some of their former teammates. In an interview, senior, Jennifer Perry, said the hardest part of switching schools was having to build a new program from scratch with a new coach. She said she felt satisfied when the judges called James Clemens for first place at the state competition along with beating Bob Jones. Jennifer and Ariel Abrams, also a senior, say
James Clemens has an advantage with having a separate, cheer gym, school support, and new traditions. At nationals, they hope to dominate and to win white jackets.
